Good on these guys. Heard a bit of their music, not my stuff tho. They probably wont blow up in the US/westerncountries but i guess this gives GOOD Music greater access to the African market because these guys are huge over there.
  • Dare:
I've been reading HHDX for the past 5 years and relying on them for all my Hip hop info. I feel so proud today to see this milestone achievement covered in my favoutite hiphop site. I would love to congratulate D'banj and Don Jazzy for being original artistes and not trying to be lil wayne and Kanye imitations like the bulk of the artistes in Nigeria. Americans appreciate it when u keep it real and not try to be like them. They have a plethora of gimmicky rappers already in the US and dont need Africans to try and immitate them. I feel so proud to be Nigerian today! This is a very good look for us!

    • osasp:
mode 9 - not marketable - (kinda lyk tech 9yne)

terry da rapman - sold out dead beat (has neva been good anyway)

blaise - she started out in her own lane but drifted off

naeto c - wannabe american rapper(u think they aint seen enough of those already?)

'those 2' are very spontaneous and you cant front on don jazzys skills. . .he still shits on any top producer in naija

all of the above are a personal opinion
    • davenchy:
Malik Yusef on GOOD music is a spoken word artist. .will u say he's not marketable?? Put a producer like Kanye or GOODmusic's Hitboy behind Modenine and u'll recognize wat a sick mc Modenine is. Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music Label Signed To Exclusive Worldwide Label Agreement With Island Def Jam Music Group

14-time Grammy-winner (and 30-time Grammy nominee) Kanye West's independent record label G.O.O.D. Music, has been signed to an exclusive long-term worldwide label agreement with the Island Def Jam Music Group (IDJMG). The announcement was made today by Kanye West, Barry Weiss, Chairman & CEO of Universal Motown Republic Group (UMRG) and Island Def Jam Music Group (IDJMG) and Steve Bartels, President & COO, Island Def Jam Music Group.

The first release under terms of the new agreement will be FINALLY FAMOUS, the official debut by Detroit rapper Big Sean, arriving in stores June 28th. The album, executive produced by Kanye West, has already spun off G.O.O.D.'s first bonafide hit single, "My Last" featuring Chris Brown. The track is #1 on the Billboard Rap Songs chart, and #4 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

A protégé of Kanye West, 22-year old Big Sean (Sean Anderson) was signed when he was still a teenager. Big Sean is now the flagship artist on the G.O.O.D. Music roster. Kanye West will continue to serve as a core recording artist at Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam Recordings.

"G.O.O.D. Music is an exciting new chapter in the long and successful association of Kanye West and Island Def Jam," said Mr. Weiss. "As a recording artist and a producer over the past eight years, there is no one who has made a greater impression on the game than Kanye. We look forward to working closely with the new and established artists that he will be bringing to G.O.O.D. Music, which is already off to an impressive start with Big Sean."

"Kanye's genius has been proven time and time again on records and onstage," said Mr. Bartels. "He not only pours it out for himself, but he has made the difference with his presence on innumerable projects with other artists who are indebted to him. Kanye is an integral core member of the IDJ family, and G.O.O.D. Music continues his unselfish tradition of bringing along great new artists to the forefront."

Check out the latest edition of “Scene And Heard TV” hosted by Mara

Check out the latest edition of “Scene And Heard TV” hosted by Mara The
Hip-Hop Socialite featuring Killer Mike (aka Mike Bigga) and the daughter
of Jam Master Jay, Tyra Myricks.

Check out some of the highlights:

Killer Mike on why his current label situation with T.I.’s Grand Hustle
Records is a better fit for him at this point in his career and how Big
Boi’s Purple Ribbon Label could’ve been a better fit for him:

'Cause I’ve grown and matured. Purple Ribbon probably could’ve been a
better fit for me if I’d had a little more business savvy and a little
more patience at the time. And if we'd all at Purple Ribbon would've
realized how dramatically the industry was changing, but sometimes you
have to get out in the wilderness - you know I'm from the country, so I
use a lot of biblical analogies - but you have to get out to kind of find
your own way and become who you're supposed to be.

Mike also calls Bill Cosby, (who’s long been a harsh critic of the black
community) to task:

“When you call people to task, you're going to be called to task. If you
call the black community to task for not properly educating their
children, then you have to acknowledge the fact that the parents of these
children were also educated in the public school system, and if these
children are being undereducated at home, it probably means their parents
were undereducated in the public school system. So therefore, you giving
$25 million to a college doesn't make as much sense as you giving $25
million to a kindergarten class to properly develop the talented 10 that
could systemically change our community.”

“The schools are responsible for teaching children, but if you have 80
years of undereducated children, how do you reverse that?”

“If you don't name all the ingredients of the soup, stop criticizing the
cook. If you don't deal with the problem as a whole, stop pointing at poor
black parents because what you're really doing is pointing at poor black
women. You're not pointing at poor black men, because they're in jail or
estranged, but what you're doing is you're pointing at women, and it's
wrong, and it's borderline masochonistic and sexist, and no one is dealing
with that.”

Plus, Tyra Myricks speaks on the investigation into her father’s death
nearly 9 years later and Russell Simmons.
